The two hunting horns - These symbols come from the Swart family crest and symbolise calling a hunting partner to indicate a successful hunt.

Inverse chevron lines – These are synonymous with French ancestry and are displayed on many French family crests, including Elmari’s family-line, the Du Plessis family.

Lions – The Amsterdam Lions holding the crest represent Jaap’s Dutch heritage and signifies strength, protection and loyalty to one’s dreams.

The helm adorned by feathers which completes the crest embodies the philosophy of nobility, victory and an acknowledgement to ancestors as found in African traditions.
